The AMS/NOS Energy Drink Time Attack Team wins at Spring Mountain

The AMS/NOS Energy Drink Time Attack Team headed to the Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Nevada for the 7th round of the Redline Time Attack series.  The team hopes that the saying "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" rings true as the weekend was filled with unusual and unexpected problems.

AMS/NOS Energy Drink attends M.O.D. in Normal, IL.

Despite mother nature’s best efforts this year’s M.O.D event in Normal, IL. proved to be a great time. The past few years Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) opened the doors to its Normal Illinois assembly plant for Mitsubishi owners all over the Midwest. The event is highlighted with free products, raffles, several activities and free food courtesy of MMNA and their volunteer staff. Every year AMS and several other vendors along with Mitsubishi owners attend this event to share in their common admiration for the Diamond Star line.

TEAM NOS: AMS/NOS Energy Drink Drag Car Runs 8.63 @ 167mph

The AMS/NOS Team has been anxious to break the world record once again for the quickest EVO 8 after the last outing in Englishtown. Shifting into fourth gear the car began to misfire but Jones managed a 8.63 @ 167 mph. The team was surprised that such as easy run netted such a quick time and was eager to diagnose the problem. In the pits the team went over the logs from the AEM engine management to determine the source of the misfire. The log revealed a voltage loss at the top end of the track. With time running out the AMS/NOS Team was forced to pack up for the day without being able to further diagnose the shifter linkage trouble or the loss of voltage.

Redline Time Attack, Englishtown, Race Report

 

AMS travelled east for the 7^th race in the Redline Time Attack Series.  Englishtown is host to a short 1.35 mile technical road course that is quite different than what the team is used to.  The track is relatively new but it’s known for its bumpy surface and rough transitions.

 

Saturday’s practice started with a slight drizzle that turned into a heavy downpour.  The weather for Sunday was looking good with sunny skies in the forecast so practice was abandoned as there was nothing to be gained from running the wet conditions.  The rain continued into the night but as the weathermen predicted Sunday morning brought clear skies.

During the event the world’s most powerful evo was able to once again break a new record as it put down 1,181 HORSEPOWER TO THE WHEELS! News of the achievement traveled worldwide and this month the car finds itself featured on the cover of Power magazine in Greece.

NOS Hillclimb team keeping busy in Denver

A few weeks ago we were in Grand Junction Colorado for the Land's End Hill Climb.  The event was a bit of a mixed bag for the team, we came away with a win, but on our last run of the weekend, I overcooked a braking zone and went off the road, resulting in a bit of front-end damage.  On Friday afternoon I finally got a chance to pull the car apart to survey the damage.
 

NOS Rally team ACP goes drifting in Toronto!

On August 15-16 I went out to the biggest drift event in Canada - DriftMania's DMCC championship event in Toronto at Downsview. I took the NOS truck and trailer and the Evo9, direct from X Games glory, with a new/old bumper ziptied on.

We were supposed to compete with it in the pro division but the entry speeds in practice were so much higher for the AWD layout that I ended up doing a demo before the main event instead. DMCC had a contest for "The Ride of a Lifetime" and I took the winner in the car for the demo.
